Power of NOT!

Please don’t read this status any further!

Isn't this the best way to attract the readers to make them read your message? Generally experienced people insist on others to develop positive attitude and think positively. They think that the words you speak describe your personality. But the technique experts use to attract & convince people lies in the choice of words they make. There is a famous book in Tamil “Please Intha Puthakaththai Vangatheenga (Please don’t buy this book)” written by Gopinath, a well-known TV anchor. Surprisingly that book was declared as the best sold book and it created a record in sales of that year. Though people got convinced with the content of the book too later, it’s the name that attracted the readers to buy the book. Negative words reach faster at times and they can be carefully used to make a Positive impact. Many achievers in the world took just one extra step than other people who tried and failed to achieve the feat. Achievers took it right from the place, where others said it’s not possible to proceed further. So words like don’t, shouldn't provokes the adventurer in you to achieve results. The bosses or management will never listen to your requests until you say to them that you don’t want to serve their organization anymore. Again all these words should be used cautiously, else, chances of back firing are high. Other way a child does the same thing, which his parents advise not to do. People love to experiment things and gain experience from that, rather than listening to experienced ones. So here negative words may act as a caution note, still doesn't stop people from experimenting.

I was somehow thinking to experiment my learning on my son, who always cry going to school. As usual with huge roar he woke up, after repeated attempts of waking him up. So I told my wife that I’ll manage the situation and told my son “You shouldn't go to school today”. Even before I could say any more words, he removed his shoes and slept again happily. I was surprised to see my negative words not working in the right way. I forgot one fact that both me and my wife together listened to the lecture on the “Power of negative words” and she experimented the same even before I did, by saying to my Son “Don’t listen to anything your dad says”. It would have been great, if the same advice had been given to my Wife before our Marriage by my Mother-in-law 

FLAME

"FLAMES"- Most of us definitely know about this game and atleast 90% would have tried their hands on it during their school/college days. So being indifferent from others, I too tried it with my crushes and unfortunately every attempt of mine ended up in Brother-Sister relationship on cards! However, this in anyway never prevented me to continue having crushes on them, until I found better options. I entered the Final year of wonderful college life and that time I had a deep crush on a girl (Guys who know who she is, offline please). On the same day, 12th January, I decided to tell her about my love. So I was all set with a Rose I had bought with my pocket money I and went to the college, waiting for the day to end. That day, our chairman gave a speech on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda's birthday. I was in no mood to listen any of such things, but unfortunately had no option other than listening to it. Suddenly he said, " Vivekananda told, there is a FLAME in every youngster. He should bring out that FLAME in him to understand who he is". when I heard that, I don't know what came into my mind, took a paper and started putting FLAMES with her. The result was as expected. Papers showed her as my sister and suddenly brought down my enthusiasm level. So, I decided not to tell her that day as the signs were not good and waited for an another opportunity. Before that could happen, one of my close friends, who knew very well about the whole thing entered the scene and told her everything on my behalf. The Result was "Negative". The reply she gave was "Your friend doesn't even have the guts to say his love directly, and how come he expects me to love him?". If only those enlightening words of Vivekananda haven't entered my ears, things could have been different.

For the first time, Vivekananda's words put off the FLAME in a youngster's mind, rather than lighting it  Anyways coming to the Point, on this auspicious Swami Vivekananda's Birthday let's ignite the real FLAME in us and do something good for the society  After all he wanted youngsters to be rock solid characters and not just write favorite names on rocks alongside theirs.

தனிமை!

பொருளிருந்தும் அருகே உறவிருந்தும், இரவில் 
நிலவொளி இழந்த வானம் போல் இருளும் மனது!
சந்திக்க முகம் இல்லாத நேரத்தில்,
சிந்திக்க அகம் தூண்டும் உணர்வு.
உன்னை அறியும் வரை தனிமை ஒரு உணர்வு.
உண்மை நீ உணர்ந்தால் அதுவே ஒரு நல்லுறவு!

Like the sky in the absence of Moon at night, loneliness is the darkness of the heart even in the presence of people and money.
Loneliness is the feeling of the heart in the absence of people but understand that, Its the time given to you to realize yourself.
Till you realize yourself, loneliness is a feeling, The moment you understand the truth, its the best company you can have.

GPS (Goddess Positioning System)

My wife asked me the reason behind Brahma giving a place in his mouth for saraswathi, Vishnu giving a place in his heart for Lakshmi, and Lord siva giving equal half of his body for Parvathi.

We all know the role of Trimuthis in the Universe. Life begins from Brahma, problems begin from mouth. The moment you open the mouth for an argument with your wife, you are sure to lose it, because your tongue is her residence (It’s always difficult to win an opponent in their territory). Vishnu is the protector of life. To protect anything, you need to show love/care towards it. Loving/caring is the character of heart. The moment you marry a woman, it becomes your responsibility to protect her, love her and care for her. Siva is the symbol of destruction. Marriage is the process of uniting two souls. It’s impossible for a single soul to reside in two different bodies, so the arthanatheeswara (siva-sakthi equal halves) is to personify that souls are united by sharing the body, and when the soul is disturbed (destructed), we disturb not just one person, but both the united souls. The positioning of the Goddess is to symbolize the above said.

So I gave this explanation in the way I understood spirituality. By now obviously you guys would have guessed on what will be her next question. “Now where have you placed me?” I said “on my head”. Baffled with my reply, she asked me for the reason. I said “Very simple, It’s Human nature to carry the entire problem in their head”, and the argument began. :):)

A Never ending War

Which is the Longest war of Human race?

The moment this question is put forth, we peep into the History and come up with answers like Persian war, World war-I, world war-II, Vietnam war, Indo-Pak war etc. We tend to forget the fact that wars are not just the one externally fought with swords & knife, but can also be internal between two powerful creations of God, “Brain and Heart”. Yes It’s the war between Brain and the Heart, which is the longest war being fought since the evolution of mankind, in fact a never ending one. Our external desires get satisfied if the Brain wins & internal desires get satisfied if the Heart Wins. Battle field is nothing but our Body and often we underestimate the effects of the war and how much damage it does to the "Battle field". Consider a case where you desire to buy a new mobile and your mind says “go for it” but Heart says “Don go for it”. If your mind wins, you’ll have that momentary pleasure of holding the new mobile in your hand, but the question is for how long this pleasure exists. Until you see a better mobile? Or until you realize the fact that you have wasted so much money for your requirement? So what next? New stress occupies your mind. Now consider the other possibility of your Heart winning the battle. No new mobile in Hand and You can console yourself saying that you saved a few dollars. But the desire raises again on seeing the same mobile in someone else's hand. And, the Battle begins again.

Children and Yogis are exceptions. For a child, both the brain and Heart thinks in the same way, so if they wish to attain something, they attain it and get satisfied. A yogi is desire-less and hence not affected by the war. Why do most of the people prefer to become a child again, only for the same reason. They are not willing to leave their desires, at least by becoming child-like, they can feel satisfied.So which is the basic culprit, Desire? Or Dissatisfaction?. This question was rolling in my mind for a very long time, and I was trying to find out an answer for the the same. I am tabulating my observation based on various experiments I conducted on myself.

Desiring is not wrong. You are what you desire. Desires help you set a goal and achieve it.  Now if you had achieved what you desired, you should feel satisfied, but, truth is you are still dissatisfied. The reason is, your desire goes to the next level (over desire). And Your need never ends. You toil hard and harder and forget to enjoy life, and the war goes on. This is where you have to act Smart. Once your desire is satisfied, instead of looking on extending your desire on the same thing, desire for something different just like a child. So you can attain satisfaction on that particular desire completely.

I explained everything said above to one of my colleague, when he said he wish to become child again. I was so happy to see him listening to my lecture intensely and asked him at the end, “Did you get any message out of what I said?” He pumped up saying “ Yes Boss, I understood one thing that Electronics and Wife are the same, you can never be satisfied with what you have”. I silently left the place as my wife was there with me during all this discussion :)

Payanam Movie review

Only very few movies wake up our senses and drills down into our heart and remain green for more time.
Only very few directors are bold enough to try some new formula and bring the right composition.
Only very few producers dare to invest money on story, not on the star cast.
:Payanam" is one such movie, "Radha Mohan" is one such director & "Prakash Raj" is one such producer.

After two consecutive successes, this director & producer have tied up again to give public a wonderful movie.

Movie begins with flight from chennai to delhi being hijacked by Terrosists group. Terrorists demand the pilot to move the flight over to Rawalpindi (pakistan), but due to techincal fault ends up landing in tirupathi. They demand the release of Yousuf khan, the terrorist who is under Military Custody. To save 100's of passengers inside the flight which includes a Union minister, the government accepts to the release demand of yousuf khan. Unfortunately he dies while transferring him from kashmir to Tirupathi due to heavy snow slide. Wat happens next and how passengers are being saved forms the remaining part of the story.

Simple story, Clear screenplay, heart touching dialogues makes the movie a special one. Director has done everything right about the movie. Especially last 15 minutes of the film is so good, making payanam a definite watch. Kudos to director for making the viewers stay on their seats with their belts fastened throughout the movie.

Nagarjuna has done perfectly well and fits perfectly into the shoes of an NSC commando. Prakash Raj as Home secretary, has lived in that role. MS basker as priest, Thalaivasal vijay as Retired colonel officer, "Deal ah No deal ah" fame Rishi as a doctor, have all performed their roles neatly. But its chaam as an ardent fan of Prithviraj (as a cine actor) captures the smile in all the viewers faces. Every time, he expects that his super hero would do something to rescue his passengers, but, prithviraj turns his hopes down. His reactions to this makes viewers burst into laughter.

Camera & Art works are really appreciable. Praveen Mani's Re recording suits the emotions and actions. Gannavel's Dialogues brings life to the travel.

Though the pace slows down slightly in the second half for a while, it bounces back when commando operation begins. Director has beautifully portrayed how media spoils the entire show just to increase their TRP rating. There is a lesson for politicians, media & general Public.

In short"Payanam" is a must watch and I happily rate it at 4on 5.

சென்னை மாநகராட்சிக்கு ஓர் கடிதம்.

மதிப்பிற்குரிய மாநகராட்சி அதிகாரி அவர்களுக்கு,

என் கோரிக்கையை தங்கள் முன் வைப்பதற்கு முன்னால் என்னை பற்றி ஓரிரு வரிகள். சொல்லி கொள்ள பெருமையாக எதுவும் இல்லை, வார நாட்களை பெங்களுரிலும், வார இறுதியை சென்னையிலும் கழிக்கும் சராசரி லட்ச தமிழர்களில் ஒருவன் நான். சென்னை சென்ட்ரலில் இறங்கி, மேற்கு மாம்பலத்தில் உள்ள என் வீட்டிற்கு மின்சார ரயில் மாறி வருவது வழக்கம், அந்த 17 நிமிட ரயில் பயணத்தில், ஒன்றை மட்டும் நான் கவனிக்க தவறியதே இல்லை. அது சென்னை நகரத்தின் சிறப்புகளில் ஒன்றான "ரிப்பன் பில்டிங் "தான். அதிலும் மாநகராட்சி கட்டிடத்தின் இரு பக்கத்திலும் எழுதி இருக்கும் இரு வாக்கியங்கள் எனக்குள் ஒரு சிறு வருத்தத்தை தரதான் செய்கின்றன. அது தான் "தமிழ் வாழ்க, தமிழ் வளர்க" என்னும் வாக்கியங்கள். அதை எப்படியாவது "வாழ்க தமிழ், வளர்க தமிழ்" என்று மாற்றி அமைக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் எனக்கு எப்போதும் உண்டு. என்ன இரண்டிற்கும் பொருள் ஒன்று தானே என்று தாங்கள் என்ன கூடும். கம்ப இராமாயணத்தில் கம்பர் ஒன்றை கூறுவார். சீதையை தேடி செல்லும் ஹனுமான், சீதையை கண்டு வருவார். சீதை பற்றி தகவல் அறிய ஆவலுடன் காதுக்கும் ராமனின் வாடிய முகத்தை பார்த்து ஹனுமான் முதலில் "கண்டேன் சீதையை என்பார். சீதையை கண்டேன் என்று சொல்லாமல் கண்டேன் சீதையை என்று ஹனுமான் சொன்னதற்கு காரணமாக கம்பர் சொன்னது. " சீதையை என்று சொல்லி முடிப்பதற்குள் சீதைக்கு என்ன ஆயிற்றோ என்று ராமன் பதறி விடுவாரோ? இல்லை சீதையை பற்றி வேறு எதாவது தப்பாக நினைத்துவிடுவாரோ? என்ற எண்ணத்தில், பொருளை முதலில் சொல்லி பெயரை பிறகு ஹனுமான் சொன்னதாக சொல்லுவார். கம்பனின் திறமைக்கு இன்னொரு சாட்சி. அதே கவலை தான் அடியேனுக்கும். வாழ்க என்று சொன்னவுடன் வாழ்க ஹிந்தி என்றோ , வாழ்க ஆங்கிலம் என்றோ சொல்லி முடித்தால் தவறில்லை. பிற மொழி வாழ்ந்தால் எனக்கு வருத்தம் இல்லை. அனால் முதலில் தமிழ் என்றவுடன் யாரேனும் ஒழிக என்று முடித்து விட்டால் அதை ஏற்க்கும் பொறுமை எனக்கு இல்லை. தமிழ் வாழ நான் எதுவும் பெரிசாக செய்யாவிட்டாலும், வாக்கியமாவது என்னால் மாறினால் பெரிய சாதனை செய்த சந்தோஷம் எனக்கு கிடைக்கும். தாங்கள் தயவு செய்து என் விண்ணப்பத்திற்கு செவி சாய்க்க வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டு கொள்கிறேன்.

இப்படி,

தமிழை வளர்க்க துடிக்கும்,

ஆறரை கோடி பேர்களில் ஒருவன்.

அவளுள்அடக்கம்!!!

 காற்றுக்கு ஒரு சவால்...

அவள் கண்இமை அசைவுகள் என்னை சாய்த்துவிடும்,

உன்னால் முடியுமா??

நெருப்புக்கு ஒரு சவால்...

அவள் ஆசை சொற்கள் என்னை உருக்கிவிடும்,

உன்னால் முடியுமா??

கடலுக்கு ஒரு சவால்...

அவள் கண்ணிரு துளிகள் என்னை மூழ்கடிக்கும்,

உன்னால் முடியுமா??

மண்ணுக்கு ஒரு சவால்...

அவள் இதயம் போதும் என்னை புதைத்துவிட,

என் காதலும் நேசமும் உனக்கு மட்டும்!

அன்பும் அக்கறையும் உனக்கு என்றும் கிட்டும்!!
